Transplantation is a high technology speciality which has improved rapidly through promoting and embracing scientific innovation. British researchers under the umbrella of the British Transplantation Society have been instrumental in the development of this specialty. Each year the Society awards a non-clinical fellowship, as well as awarding the Medawar medal and Sir Roy Calne award for the best work undertaken in the UK.
